Computer / Equipment Donation / Recycling :

-Computers for People With Disabilities' Program-

Tri-County also runs the 'Computers for People With Disabilities' Program, which

provides computers to people with disabilities who do not currently own one.

If you have a newer model PC and monitor, keyboard, and mouse that you do

not need anymore, we would love to talk to you.

We are currently accepting machines that have at least a Pentium 3 processor,

running at 500 Mhz or better. Unfortunately, we cannot accept printers, scanners, and other peripherals.

(We are also happy to accept newer laptops and disability-related software and equipment.)

Ways and Places to Recycle in Humboldt County, California

Humboldt-Freecycle is an e-mail list that seeks to reduce waste by connecting individuals who are throwing away goods with others who are seeking them. Furniture, clothing, appliances, computers, and everything in between can be posted, but everything must be FREE.

A couple things to mention right off the bat;

Don't mix aluminum foil with aluminum cans. They aren't the same as aluminum foil is 75% tin, I've been told. Recycle aluminum foil with tin cans.
You can recycle those plastic shopping bags, that are so common nowadays, at any Safeway store. The recycle bins are usually somewhere near the front of the store.
The metal lids that go on glass jars can be recycled with normal tin cans.

-Arcata-
Arcata Community Recycling Center

Pays for: CRV Aluminum, CRV Glass, CRV Plastic, Used Motor Oil
Accepts, but does not pay for: Scrap Glass (No window glass, auto glass or mirrors), Newspaper, #1- #7 "Other" Plastic, Non- CRV Aluminum Cans, Aluminum Foil, Bimetal Cans, Cardboard, Office Paper, Packing Peanuts and Bubble Wrap
Also on site is a reusables depot/ thrift store which accepts and resells household items and used building materials (doors, windows, etc)

-Blue Lake- There are recycling bins at Blue Lake city hall. They accept (but don't pay for) newspaper, #1 and #2 plastic, glass, and cardboard.

Plastic- #1 @ 2 HDPE, Clear #1 PET,#1- #7 "Other" Plastic, Aluminum, Bimetal Cans, Newsprint, Clear and Colored Glass.
Accepts but does NOT pay for:
Cardboard, Office Paper, Magazines, Tin Cans,Tires (with wheel removed), Styrofoam Packing Peanuts, batteries
In addition, City Garbage now separates Green waste from other waste.
Green Waste includes lawn clippings, leaves, tree limbs less than 6" in diameter, etc. Green Waste is then taken to Fortuna, where it is ground up and taken to a worm farm in Ferndale.
City Garbage also has a curbside recycling program available for a small fee where they pick up your recyclables along with your regular trash. Call City Garbage for details.

There is also a recyclabes drop-off site at the Eureka Municipal Auditorium at 12th and E Street. It accepts clear and colored glass, #1 and #2 HDPE plastic, #1 clear PET plastic, aluminum cans and newspaper.

-Trinidad- "Humboldt Sanitation has an outdoor recycling station in Trinidad at the "Park and Ride" between Highway 101 and Patrick's Point Drive across from the Chevron station. There
are separate recycling containers for clear glass, brown glass, green glass, #1 and #2 plastic, aluminum cans, tin cans, newspapers and cardboard."
