Tri-County Independent Living will hold our 6th Annual Respect for Abilities Day on Friday, July 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Redwood Acres in Eureka.
The event will include assistive technology displays, information tables from local service providers, government agencies, businesses and other groups. TCIL is also planning to offer various educational workshops during that week in recognition of the anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) on July 26, 1990. Be sure to watch for further information in the mail and in our RespectAbility newsletter by late June and early July.

Click the link below to go to the Humboldt County Transit Authoritywebsite for Bus Schedules and important information for Paratransit users: Dial-a-Ride Dial-a-Ride/Lift is a specialized door-to-door transit system which operates within the City of Eurekaand surrounding unincorporated areas. The service is provided to those individuals who are unable to use the regular bus system. Certification is required. You may obtain certification through Humboldt Transit Authority by calling (707) 443-0826, or through the Humboldt Senior Resource Center at (707) 443-9747. Use of the system requires pre-purchased tickets. They can be purchased at Humboldt Transit Authority, Humboldt Senior Resource Center, or at Eureka City Hall. To arrange for a ride, you may call Humboldt Dial-a-Ride at 442-4555. ADVANCED TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM (707) 445-8419 Care-A-Van is a non-emergency medical transportation services providing rides for people of low income who are unable to access the services of Dial-A-Ride or Dial-A-Lift. ADVANCED TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM (ATS) is the largest social service transportation provider in Humboldt County. Primarily used to provide route transportation for the day services of HCAR, Redwoods United and the Sund Program, it is also used to support community access for day services and recreation. ATS provides transportation to approximately 200 individuals daily. In addition, ATS provides transportation for the HCAR dances and special charter services to community events such as the Redwood Coast Dixieland Jazz Festival and the Ferndale Repertory Theatre.
Designated as Humboldt County's Consolidated Transportation Services Agency and with the aid of Community Benefit Network, an outreach program of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange, ATS provides the CARE-A-VAN service.![]()
